Bible Widget ("the App", "we", "us") is developed and operated by an independent developer. This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, why, and how it is stored and shared.
When you first open the App, we sign you in anonymously through Firebase Authentication. This produces a unique anonymous user identifier (Firebase UID) that is stored on your device and used only to associate your subscription tier with your device when you contact our AI Chat backend. No personal information (name, email, phone number) is collected during this step.
If you purchase a subscription, RevenueCat (our subscription management provider) and Apple handle the transaction. Our backend receives a webhook notification with your subscription tier and an Apple transaction identifier. We store this on our servers to verify your premium access when you use AI Chat.
If you are a premium subscriber and use the "Chat about this" feature, your messages, the AI's responses, and the scripture verse you were reflecting on are sent to our backend. The messages are forwarded to Anthropic (the AI provider) for processing; Anthropic does not retain them beyond the duration of the request and does not use them for model training.
Our backend does store your chat messages and the AI responses for up to 30 days so that we can review response quality and detect content that violates our safety policies. Access to this stored content is restricted to project staff via authenticated admin tools. After 30 days, chat content is automatically deleted by a daily cleanup process. Chat history is also kept on your device for offline access; deleting the app removes the local copy.
You can request immediate deletion of all your chat data at any time by tapping Settings → Delete Account in the app; this removes your entitlements, chat logs, and safety violation records from our backend within seconds.
The following data is stored only on your device and never sent to our servers:
We may collect anonymized usage statistics (which screens are viewed, which features are used) through our analytics provider to understand product usage. This data is not linked to your personal identity.
If you delete your account from the App (Settings → Delete Account), we immediately remove your entitlements, chat logs, safety violation records, and webhook history from our backend.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. This satisfies the CCPA right to deletion and the GDPR Article 17 right to erasure. You may also contact us at support@biblewidget.online for any privacy-related request.
The App is rated 4+ and may be used by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The anonymous identifier we use cannot be linked back to a child's identity.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
